Despite such large measuring strokes, these machines reach a precision and performance level, which is usually common with much smaller 3D Measuring Machines.
Parts measured on Leitz PMM-G coordinate measuring machines are large diesel engines, jet engine components, aircraft wing structures, columns of printing machines, satellites, large machine tool parts etc.
The new Leitz PMM-G can also be utilized as a gear inspection system for large and very large gearings and gear cutting tools.

Gear Inspection with Leitz PMM-G measuring machines
The new Leitz PMM-G can also be utilized as a gear inspection system for large and very large gearings and gear cutting tools. Gears with diameters of up to 5000mm and with unlimited weight can be measured. Even bigger gear diameters can be inspected in disassembled condition.
Leitz PMM-G Gear Inspection Systems provide several advantages compared to a conventional single purpose Gear Tester:
- They are much more flexible, as not only gears but any component can be measured.
- Leitz Gear Inspection Systems work without a Rotary Table, i.e. alignment or centering of the gear is not required.
- Unrivalled throughput by automatically measuring a large number of gears on one pallet.
- Complete inspection of gears mounted on long shafts of up to 7000mm.
- All datums are measured as specified in the drawing, even in large internal gears.
